Cross country hiked in wilderness area, which is part of new Sonoran Desert National Monument. Beautiful wildflowers, including many types of cacti. Some of the largest Saguaros I've seen.

Moderately strenuous hike with a three thousand foot elev. gain over 5 miles from beginning to turnaround point. Outstanding views. Saw cougar tracks, vermilion flycatcher, and fox. Several miles of sometimes rough high-clearance 4wd road to access trailhead.

All of Pink Hill and portions of Carillo, Shantz, Kennedy, and others. Wonderful cacti, lots of quail, easy trails.

Dayhiked from west entrance, saw Graham Patch Nosed Snake, javelina (our first!), black hawk, and a bobcat on the drive out. A great day spent in one of our favorite places.

Nice trip. Scenic, mostly good weather, although we got a few inches of snow and VERY high winds second night out. Camped at hard-to-find (but marked on maps) overlook near Ojo Agua Fria spring. Dayhiked as far south as Snowshed saddle and also to Chiricahua Saddle. Trail became very hard to follow and literally covered with blowdown south of Eagle Spring.

From the east side, which we prefer to the west entrance because of the availability of nice car-camp sites along Turkey Creek. Best trip yet to Aravaipa. Saw deer, Arizona black rattlesnake (almost totally black!), and dozens of coatimundi. Incidentally, wife 6 months pregnant. Camped at mouth of Booger, same site as in '01. Dayhiked up Virgus Canyon.

Backpacked Sycamore Basin Trail from junction with Dogie Trail to Taylor Cabin, about 6 miles round trip. Beautiful scenery, interesting cabin (we spent the night in it), saw a gecko. Would like to go back.

Ten miles round trip from trailhead to Sycamore Trail. Done as part of hike to Taylor Cabin. Great hike. Wonderful scenery and solitude. Great car-camping near trailhead.

Good, but not great. Wouldn't do it again. Nice flora, decent views of surrounding valleys.

One of the best hikes I've done! Great scenery and flora. Not really a trail, so some route finding necessary. Great view from saddle -- west toward Ajo and east into canyon and Ajo mountains.

Went in from east side this time. Great car-camping up Turkey Creek. Camped near mouth of Booger Canyon. Wonderful campsite. Dayhiked up Horse Camp and Virgus Canyons on second day. On way out, stashed packs and dayhiked up Hell Hole.

Did a loop hike, up East Fork of Little Colorado, down West Fork, then back to East Fork trailhead via a connecting trail. This hike is way overrated! Fishing stunk, crowded, mediocre scenery. Would never do it again. Only plus is nice campsites.

This site says 6 miles, but the Jumpup hike I did was more than that. I'm assuming the site is referring to the Jumpup Canyon in Kanab Creek Wilderness. We went in from Jumpup cabin, breaking off from Jumpup after a few miles and going over a bench and down into Sowats Canyon. We camped just below Bitter spring, then hiked out up Jumpup Canyon, thus describing a semi-loop. The hike up Jumpup was a real adventure. At one point, we had to take off packs, climb up a dryfall, and pull the packs up with rope. The area is beautiful and remote. I hope to go back.
