This trip had it all; wading, boulder hopping, bushwhacking, climbing, nail-biting exposure, breathtaking views, lovely weather, and good company. Unforgettable.

I did this with a Meetup group and it was a blast. Thanks Kurt and Wally for making this possible.

Splashed up to the Flatiron and the N. Peak after the recent rainfall. Very nice.

What a wonderful day for a hike, it was cool and overcast with a nice breeze. Hiked up to the N. Summit and took some pictures. I saw a pretty big rattlesnake on the way down and got some good shots. I had the whole place to myself again today and that was really nice. I agree that this hike is a humbling experience. It is very strenous, I drank 3 liters of water and 3 liters of gatorade. Wow, what a workout!

Hiked this one with the Irie Lion and it was a perfect trip. It was hot, but not compared to the Superstitions. The scree chute was a lot less intimidating the second time up and I really enjoyed it. Brown's trail is a great trail, it is like walking on clouds all the way back to the trailhead. Normally I am thrilled to see the car, but I didn't want this hike to end.

By the way, I have seen posts that suggest FR 143 is passable by car. We did see one car out there, but I personally wouldn't take any car of mine through there. It is a long and treacherous road with some nasty rocks and creek beds, I would recomend El Oso Rd for cars.

Got a really late start, and I was wasting a lot of time route-finding. I started to run out of sunlight and decided to return to fremont saddle and hike back down Peralta. Really disapointing, the trail was a lot of fun, and I will have to come back and finish it.

Intended on returning via Cave trail, but I ran out of time and had to go back the way I came. I really enjoyed the view of the needle from the lone pine, what a nice little spot.

Hiked to the SE summit on a whim, and I only saw one other person while I was there. This hike kinda reminds me of Camelback via Cholla, only it is more authentic, less crowded, and has better views from the top. The only problem is the nearby shooting range, but I am not complaining. (I don't think anyone would listen anyway!)

Nice stroll up to Fremont Saddle on a cool and cloudy Sunday afternoon. Because of the recent rainfall there was a surprisingly large amount of water everywhere. I really enjoyed the waterfalls coming from cliffs above, and I could hear water flowing for the entire hike.

Short and sweet hike to the SE summit of Pass Mountain. Great views, especially of the Superstition Mountain. I definitely want to come back soon and hike the ridgeline.

Early this morning I headed up Siphon Draw solo, and I do mean solo. I did not see any people the entire time that I was there. Stopped at the Flatiron for a while and decided to press on to the summit. Spent a great deal of time exploring the top and enjoying the views. Then I went back to the Flatiron for lunch and headed back down to the trailhead.

Woke up early and watched the sun rise above Four Peaks while working my way up the trail. I underestimated it slightly, but it was still an easy trip. I am not a big fan of these city hikes, and I was not very impressed. The brown cloud that looms over Phoenix is not very scenic and the trail was very crowded. There was also a helicopter that was hovering above, which would ruin any outdoor experience. There were some pretty nice views from the top, and I did met a few very friendly and attractive women, so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Took the long way around becasue I had heard that El Oso Road was much more pleasant. I enjoyed the drive very much, and there were some great views of Roosevelt. The road was in great condition, although it was a little steep with some nerve-racking sections along the edge. Took Brown's Trail to Amethyst Trail to Brown's Saddle. There was a pretty well defined trail leading to the summit, and the scree chute was much easier to climb than it appears from a distance. There were three fairly tough sections with a bit of exposure, but nothing too dangerous. The views from the summit were breathtaking, and the climb back down was easier than I expected.

Hiked down to the springs and explored several swimming holes. There were also a few rope swings, but the real treat was the dam and the pool below. Spent about forty minutes convincing myself to leap from the dam to the beautiful pool below where there was a really fun rope swing and some pretty girls. Climbed back up the dam, had lunch and hiked uphill back to the car.

Hiked to the top of the flatiron and the other rock formation nearby. Took some pictures, had lunch, and hiked back down. Pretty physically demanding hike, but the route is very well cairned, and the views are well worth the effort.
