Nice day for a hike. Only ones there until coming back down. Been here many times, first time I've ran into hikers.

Lowlifes have done damage to the mini Stonehenge rocks.

First hike of the summer. Went with 3 other hams to activate Mt. Elden for SOTA. Lookout ranger came down to talk to us about ham radio.

Hiked this trail to get to my first SOTA activation (Summits On The Air). Carrying a ham radio & portable antenna I setup and made a few contacts close to the lookout tower.

This hike kicked my tail a bit as I'm used to hiking the corridor tails in the Grand Canyon where its a bunch of steps. Instead of steps its an incline which really created a burn in my calves.

I'd do this hike again sometime.

2nd attempt at Rim to Rim.
As usual a bit chilly leaving the North Kaibab TH at o-dark thirty. Made it to Cottonwood campground by 9AM.
The next morning I awoke to rain, two hours later it was still raining. I packed up in a light rain and headed to Phantom Ranch. Less than half an hour later it had quit raining and was an enjoyable hike to Phantom
Spent the first night at Phantom Ranch and the 2nd at BA campground.
Had reservations for 5AM breakfast and felt good that I could hike out without spending a night at Indian Garden. Made it to IGC, took a big break and headed to the rim. Topped out after 1PM.
