My wife and I dropped the kids off at school and headed south. I have wanted to do this one for a long time and it didn't disappoint. We were the only ones on the trails. We had a fast hike to the switchbacks, then up we went. It was windy, cold and overcast so we didn't stay long at the top. We have to head back to do the hunter trail and spend some more time at the top.
Nice morning hike. I needed this hike to clear my head from a bad day of work and I finely got a chance to use my new daypack, a osprey stratos 24. Its very comfortable. I like it a lot.
I wasn't able to get out until 4:30, but I made the best of it. I started from the Goldmine trail head and went up to the saddle then over to the bench and back down again. I just made it before dark. Good workout.
We took the kids to the Canyon for the day. We got them to hike to Maricopa point from the village before they started to complain. After a little time on the bus we got them to out hike 1 more mile around the abyss.
My wife wasn't feeling well so I stayed close to home. I hiked my usual loop but I added parts of san tan trail, moonlight trail and goldmine trail. It was a nice fast loop with climbs on both ends.
It was nice to see some clouds out there. We had a good hike but it was hot for the dog, good thing I brought extra water. Stuffed ourselves with a big fat burritos from chipotle after words...Yum!
