We drove two vehicles off FR57 to the Gibson Canyon TH, and then returned in one to the Round the Mountain TH at the horse corrals near Noon Creek. (The FR57 is rough and probably a higher clearance vehicle will make you feel more comfortable.) With two vehicles we got to experience the entire trail. This was a hike with everything: views, water, good trail, big climbs and descents, forest and desert. Today was a gorgeous Arizona day. Our two faster hikers could have completed the hike in less than 5 hours, but I'm a slower hiker and with a lunch break at Gibson Creek, we got back to the vehicle in six hours. There was some snow on the shaded upper parts of the trail and a beautiful ice flow down from Gibson Creek. Marijilda had good flow but we crossed it easily. The trail was not difficult to follow, but it helped being with a hiker who is good at keeping on the trail.

What a spectacular hike right in our backyard (Safford). Actually we just walked the clay mine wash to the box and took short side trips to the numerous natural caves. There was even a geocach at the end. The wash was easy to walk in. We thought this hike was called Box Canyon, but the arch near the end was the show piece of the hike.

Our car GPS took us to the parking lot of a casino hotel where we found another access to the trail. (The trailhead in the description was off the lake Mead recreation area turnoff.) We headed back after completing three tunnels since we wanted to visit historic Boulder City and it was getting late. Our Thanksgiving visit to Las Vegas was made special by this easy-for-all-family hike. This time of year you are in the shade of the hills on much of the walk so wear layers. We saw one big horned sheep! It's neat to look at this hike on google earth since you can see the tunnels.

We started at Snow Flat. The trail was a nice jeep road with no trees to climb over. The description was helpful and kept us on the right trail. At Treasure Park we hiked down Big Canyon along Big Creek for another .5 miles to a place with a great view of the valley below. Big Creek had a nice stream of water.

The maples were in full color and the trees were magnificent. The large Aspen were just starting to turn. The trail is in good shape. We are two women in our seventies and had no problem.
