Catch the Tony's cabin turn off at the basin with corral and old hot water heater in the ground as a seat. Piped spring on the way to the cabin--potable water. Tony's cabin is in a cool valley. Cabin in decent shape with old iron stove and some supplies left by other hikers. Some pots, cans, cot, tarps, rope, cooking grill and some foam sleeping pads. Creeks all were dry 10-05-2002. On 203 west end--first saddle a steep climb. Trail drops drastically on the way in which of course means a tiring climb out. Tony's cabin a great spot to camp. Hauted canyon trail along creek bed is covered by a canopy making a beautifully shaded hike, however the saddle is completely exposed and hot on the exit. To get there go through Pinto Mine just after Pinto Creek off US 60. Follow public access road signs to 287 then go over bridge and look for THs |
