Got a pre-dawn start to beat the heat. A usually busy trail was wide open, which made it pleasant. Didn't get into the sunshine till we got off Telegraph Pass Trail and onto the National.

Good day for a hike at Lost Dutchman. The trail was quite busy today. On the way back down saw a rattlesnake just of the trail by the Tonto Wilderness sign.

Started out at the Saguaro day use are with two companions, just out for an enjoyable spring day. Headed up to Jacob's Cross Cut then to the west side of the loop. Although the trail mileage is around 2.4, I added nearly a mile by forging ahead of my companions who were enjoying a nice slow walk, then doubling back and joining them again.

Hiked around to the Green Boulder and back down to the day use area for a nice picnic with the mountain in view.

Picked up four Geocaches on the loop and some great panoramic photos!

Lost Camp Loop

Started out at the park entrance at S. 17th Ave. Picked up the Pyramid Trail, then onto the Lost Ranch Trail. From there, took the Eliminator up the mountain. Wondered why it was called the Eliminator until I imagined coming down it on a bike. Cactus were flowering everywhere. Followed that north to the National Trail which was heavy with bike traffic from some kind of event. It eventually trickled out. Headed West to the intersection of the Lost Ranch trail and headed back down. Some sections were very steep with lots of loose stone. It was most exciting!

Passed the Lost Ranch and headed back to the car. Was a great hike!

Did 5 Geocaches on the hike, so plenty of breaks!
