| partners | | For my first big girl hike, we decided on Fossil Creek. I was excited to see something different than South Mountain. The falls and views were awesome. There was a nice breeze when we got started and even as the day went on, it didn't seem to get too hot until we were hiking out and I was tired since we had already gone 13+ miles! I was just as happy as Cup was when the clouds rolled in and we got teased with a few seconds of rain. Came across what I learned to be a kingsnake during our off-trail adventure. Unfortunately, I was trying to get Lee's attention to look at it and didn't even think about getting a picture. Missed opportunity.
Before this trip, I had never hiked more than 7 miles, so I was feeling pretty accomplished towards the end (once I knew we were almost back to the car and it had cooled off I got my second wind). Great trip with beautiful views. I would love to go back- next time I would spend some time playing in the water.
Something I learned: Bring more water; There is room for improvement on my navigation skills...
And, most importantly, add 5 miles to any future hike with friendofThundergod. |
