Great hike, amazing view. I would recommend a dog for the windcave and some of this trail. I really doubt a dog will summit unless carried.

Trail is great up until the windcave then progressively gets worse until you're left with balanced rock markings. Look for balance stones. I ended up going a bit off course a few times cause I found a nice path but soon turned to be a dead end. Really pay attention to how you got up. No real risk as I saw my vehicle and the parking lot the entire ascent.

The trial has been serviced since my last visit. Some debris at the end has been cleared, new signs. Overall still a favorite quick hike to get out and it just got better.

The condition was awesome. You could tell it was recently used by horses. Had to turn back at the 3 mile marker as it was starting to thunderstorm / rain. Lots of photo ops as you walk.

Very good uphill challenge. Almost entirely incline the way up. I plan to go back with a better camera.

If you need to convince someone there is beauty in the desert take them here. Trail is very well maintained for the first 2/3's but once you get to the clearing with the sign...past that needs a light amount of work. Passed a large amount of dogs, even a jack russell.

Made it to the end with my dog, a 60lb german shep / sib husky. Only had 2 rough areas for him; 1 he went to far into a slick rock. Thankfully he stood still while I crawled to him. The other was a boulder in the path that I had to pick him up. Pretty easy. It started to rain pretty hard half way through when I was returning so I had to stop and find ways around the built up creek. Great hike overall!

Amazing hike however the trail is very unkempt. I ended up trailblazing about an extra mile and 200ft. When I returned to the trail and found the right path I couldn't even finish. Thorn brush had overgrown the trail to the point where I couldn't see the blue sky anymore; I was very close to the end so I considered it a win.

I generally would say dogs are OK once you get past the creek. Prep for getting wet. I was not and had to spend about 30m playing leapfrog.

Trail was really well kept. Views are excellent. Pictures are fantastic at dusk. Start the loop at the trailhead across from the parking at mid day. If you go right as dusk is setting in, go with the signs posted as the best views are on that south-west facing ledge.
