Overview
Florida Peak is probably best done from Florida Canyon as a short off-trail excursion. This is likely the shortest and easiest to access route. It is probably one of, if not the easiest to access off-trail summits in the upper Santa Ritas.

The peak offers nice views of the area and is in a less visited higher elevation part of the Santa Ritas. Summer months on the approximately 8,174-foot peak are typically pleasant.

Hike the Florida Canyon Trail #145 to Florida Saddle. Head east on East Sawmill Canyon Trail #146. While the trailhead for trail #146 might officially be a shorter hike to Florida Peak, the hike was described as requiring 4x4 to access, so you know. Trail 146 traverses a short section of the ridge and you will go over a small round pine-covered knoll. People appear to camp here. Beyond that, the trail loses some elevation, and just before you drop off the ridge, Florida Peak comes into view. A short off-trail segment takes you to the summit.
