What I consider the Cathedral is behind with the Temple above.... perhaps I spent too much time in Spain.

Dakota sandstone (the white layer), which is harder than the underllying and softer Entrada sandstone (the red layer). The Entrada sandstone erodes away due to wind and water and the Dakota sandstone makes a cap that protects a column or pillar underneath.
