Dioecious: It has separate male and female flowers on different shrubs.

Fourwing Saltbush (Atriplex canescens) is a common shrub in the Paria Rimrock area, and it's a desert plant adapted to dry and salty conditions. It's a member of the goosefoot family and can be found across much of the southern Great Plains, Great Basin, and desert Southwest.
