On Day 4 we visited the site of an old mining camp near a cluster of asbestos mines. The first mines at this camp were started in 1916-17. It's rare to find any buildings still standing at the old mining camps. Perhaps this cabin was built after the mining activity had ceased. The earliest graffiti I could find written on the walls only dated back to 2005 but this cabin was obviously much older. A mystery until I realized that the planks removed from the front of the building probably had the older graffiti on them. So why did someone remove the planks from the front walls? Maybe it's in the process of being torn down or maybe they wanted the planks for the historical graffiti. We found the remains of several older collapsed wooden buildings nearby.
