This is looking at opposite ends of the lake. The top photo is looking to the south and the bottom photo has the reflection of Scott Hill from the previous photo. Silver Lake is between the Central Wasatch Range. Silver Lake and resting among mountain peaks rise to elevations of over 10,000 feet above sea level.

Since all of Big Cottonwood Canyon is a watershed for Salt Lake City you aren’t allowed to swim in any of the lakes in the canyons.
