| partners | | This was the hangover edition. One in the party wasn't feeling too well, and it wasn't me... This was my first time up, and I didn't know the route, so I had to wait for my buddy to steer me in the right direction. There are certainly quite a few forks in the trail - though it seems like most of them lead to the same place. Up!
Amazingly, my feet were sure-footed throughout the hike. There was only one place that got my heart racing; water was still flowing on the slickrock so that part was a bit dicey. Once we summitted, I had to orchestrate the photo with the beers that we packed up (I decided it would be funny to pose them in the mailbox) and read the logs. And come up with my own entry for the book. Anyway, the time factor included quite a lengthy stay (probably about an hour) at the summit.
We descended on a slightly different route that took us through a side drainage so we could avoid the slickrock. The route definitely did the trick - I wouldn't have wanted to go down that other way.
There were so many wildflowers on this hike. It was probably the best I'll ever see there. So many different types, too, but after my day at Boyce Thompson Arboretum, I didn't have much juice left in my camera battery - so sorry I didn't capture it all! |
