After a 3-day backpack last weekend and a slow morning at work, I was just looking for an easy & relaxing water hike with some swimming holes to enjoy this beautiful warm afternoon. So I made the short drive up to the Round Valley to check out the area and play in the swimming holes near that Granite Box. The creek is still flowing nicely so I knew all the pools would be full and the falls flowing. :D: I took the long way in and boulder hopped up the creek to find the secluded swimmer before hitting the box and popular nudist hangout. I don't mind nudist too much, I just wish the genders were more evenly balanced and not a sausage fest. Thankfully they mostly 'hang out' in the lowers pools... I hadn't heard too much of this area and what beta I had didn't speak too highly of it, so I was a little surprised to find a sweet narrow section loaded with falls & pools. I must have been influenced by all the other sun bathers, since I took a half hour break laying in the shallow section of one of the pools while working on my tan. Afterwards I pushed further up canyon and found a couple more sweet pools to swim thru and falls to take plenty of photos of and climb around. Once above the box, the canyon opens up again with loads of boulders in the creek and I didn't get very far before I found a great flat boulder in the creek to take another long nap on. After about a hour later and maybe slightly too much sunbathing, I figure I better head back before it gets too cold to swim thru those pools. I suppose I could always bypass them, but where's the fun in that... :D On the way out, I took the quick way via the use trail.
