| no partners | | | Finally got some good light! Thought about going back out to Grand Falls, but I really wanted to try my luck on the mountain again. Climbed Fern Mountain about 5:30, and the clouds over the Peaks looked menacing and strikingly similar to the ones that drenched me last week. Decided to set up down by Michelbach Ranch, where I went two weeks ago, as I would have better access to my car if things got nasty. Ran down Fern Mountain, jumped in the car and sped the mile or so down the road to the familiar little pullout. I was a bit discouraged by the clouds to the west, they looked like they had the last couple weeks: stubbornly not allowing the sunlight to penetrate through when I wanted it to! Decided to try my luck on the old fence, and as soon as I started setting up the tripod, light pelted between the clouds and I quickly ran off to a more tried and true composition. Shot some wildflowers and then headed up the hill that was about to block my sunlight. Made it up to the top of 8593 for the real color show. Not real satisfied with my compositions but I'm super happy the light finally turned good. I am more encouraged than ever to return to Hart Prairie to nail the perfect shot. |
