Left the house at 6:00 AM in order to shoot creek shots before the sun breached the canyon walls. Tons of wildflowers by the creek, most notably the Yellow Columbine, a favorite of mine. The grand power of the polarizing filter finally revealed itself to me, but only right before the sun barged in on my session. Submerged the bottom half of my body in the water, which is a little shocking at 7:00 AM. Headed up the Thomas Point Trail, and felt treated as I had forgotten about the nice qualities of this trail. The agaves are still blooming, and the monsoonal clouds made an appearance as well. Sat up on the rim for a good while enjoying the Oak Creek Canyon "tunnel view" before heading back down to relax by the creek. While I was soaking my feet, I noticed the fluffy clouds passing in front of the sun, so I ran up to the car and grabbed the camera set-up again to finish off my creek shots. Yes, it was a very satisfying morning in Oak Creek Canyon. |
