My wife, Ruth, and I were in Sedona for a one-week holiday; our first in two years. I have been building us a country home in Manitoba, Canada for the past 17 months, so travel and/or leisure time have been at a premium. We arrived in Sedona on the 16th, driving by the West Fork parking area on our way in from Flagstaff. We decided immediately that we would wait until Monday at the earliest before trying to hike West Fork.

Happily, Monday dawned bright, calm and relatively clear. We were at the trail head before 8:30 and were happy to see only about six vehicles already there. Some distance along, we began bumping into a fellow hiker fairly frequently. We struck up a convivial conversation and, by the time we hit the end of the 3.2 mile hike-in, we remained companions all the way back.

My reason for posting here is to let Chad, the AZWaterRat, know that I eventually follow up on my promises. For Chad and others viewing my photos, please note that I am posting them to confirm what I saw on that date. I am not posting them for critique or to suggest they are exemplary work; they are not. After so much time with a hammer, rather than a camera, in hand, I need to re-acquaint myself with the act of seeing photographically again. That said, my wife and I were thrilled to see the colors in West Fork, to meet Chad, and to be away from commitments at home for a bit.

I look forward to being back in the Red Rock country again before too long, and to posting here again.
