| no partners | | I've been wanting to do this hike for a while, and I never got the chance during fall. My Dad and I planned a short little trip, and decided to do this one, even though there would be no fall color (but there were pretty much no people so....). I honestly wasn't expecting there to be so much snow, and the trails were ice. I was pretty much figure skating, and believe me, I'm really bad on ice. I'm happy to say I only fell once, because I was trying to hold onto a tree...bad idea. At the first creek crossing, not far from the first picture, I had two options. Either cross a couple logs and a few rocks which had some ice on them. Or walk over part of the water that was frozen. My dad decided he would walk over the ice, and i decided to follow him. I should have changed my mind when I heard some of the ice cracking, but I went for it anyway. Two steps in....ccccrrrraaaacccckkkkk.....my left leg went straight through to about half way up my shin. I have never felt colder water in my life (helps living in Phoenix and Tucson my whole life), and then I decided to keep going on, with a numb foot I really didn't get that many good photos, but i'll be back.....in season! |
