The Canyon is much greener than a month ago when I did the Royal Arch loop. I haven't been on the Bright Angel trail in 10 years, usually avoid it because of all the people and mules. It was a fun hike down and I had some time to myself before meeting up with my group at Pipe Creek. We were shuttled to our first night's camp which was on river right beneath Plateau Point. Later, took a ride in the powerboat downstream to scout out Horn Creek Rapid, as the river is running at 23,000 cfs. Saw condors and people up at Plateau Point for the sunset. Ribs for dinner and strawberry poundcake with whipped cream for dessert- definitely different from my usual Grand Canyon fare of dinner out of a freezer bag! |
