With 1.5 hours of daylight left after our Grandview Trail backpack, I headed down the Bright Angel Trail alone in beautiful, cool, fall weather. A few hikers on the way down informed me that I was going the wrong way for this time of day. I had a headlamp, plus I was having too much fun to care. I eventually turned around at the 3 mile rest house, as it seemed like a good place to stop. Good music on the iPod kept me motivated on the way up, but I hit a wall upon reaching the Coconino. I trudged up the last stretch to the Rim by moonlight, never needing my headlamp, and reached my truck just after 7pm. I had to be at work in Payson the next morning, so I hurried south, passing a nasty elk+vehicle wreck along the way. I finally collapsed in my hotel room after a 21 hour day of big fun. Woo-hoo!
