| partners | | My Buddy Drew and I went back up to the Mount Peeley area this afternoon. Last week during our hike I had told him about GPSJoe. There was one area about a 1/4 of a mile before the carins to head to the summit that looked like it could easily be problematic. It is a steep drop off and we thought that just maybe something may have happened there.
I know that a ton of searching has already been done but you just never know. It is also like looking for a needle in a haystack up there. With that being said, we decided to go up and spend some time looking down in that drop off area. Once there Drew dropped down about 20-50 feet and worked backwards and I went down 50-100 feet and worked backwards as well.
Thunder, lightning and a brief bit of rain came but we pushed on. Once satisfied with the area covered and no findings we decided to continue on down the trail toward the turn off for Sheep Mountain. We went up to that first high point where you follow the ridge toward 6910 and then on to Sheep Mountain. The ribbons are still mostly there from all the search efforts.
It was getting late but the views from our vantage point were amazing as was the sunset! We hit the trail at 4:30 and finished in the dark a little after 8.
