| no partners | | | Ah, second hike of the morning at the North Rim. While the Uncle Jim was a nice little stroll in mostly solitude, the Widforss Trail had several Hikers on it. Nothing obtrusive or annoying just was being enjoyed by a good handful of people. I grabbed a brochure out of the self help dispenser and read about the surroundings and its history. Some interesting stuff for sure. There was a bunch of smoke in the canyon from a controlled fire when I first started but it began to lift by the time I finished. There were a few spots along the way that had some really spectacular views. I started this one from the North Rim on the Arizona Trail rather than at the Trailhead proper. It only adds a half mile each way and I just didn't see the sense in moving my car. If you are in the area and you have some time to kill I would recomend this one. It would be an enjoyable hike for just about anyone. |
