| no partners | | Had to go to a wedding Saturday in Sedona so I took off work Friday and drove up to get a some exercise and some fall colors. I didn't get into town until about 11am, so I knew that the trail would be crowded. I made the good move of getting a RRPass because the parking lot was full and I had to park on the side of the road. Amazingly, it is actually $2 cheaper by doing it this way!
So, anyway, the first two miles were way too crowded, but not entirely unexpected. I made it almost four miles before stopping for lunch and turning back. The nice thing about starting so late was that there was absolutely nobody on the trail while hiking back until that last mile or so when I think it is probably crowded at any hour.
There were some very nice colors to be found. But there was also plenty of green leaves so I would expect that there still be nice colors next weekend too. The cottonwoods and sycamores in downtown sedona have just barely begun to turn a lighter shade of green. |
