Hiking the ridgeline after not hiking for about 3 weekends and a week of stuffing myself with as much food and pastries as I could in NY and Boston is not a good idea. Especially since I'm the slow one of the group. However, the saying goes "what does not kill you will only make you stronger" does apply!

We started on the Flatiron side and haul pumpkins to the waterfall spot. We took a short rest and then continued up. I was busy chatting and suddenly realized that two of us were on path that doesn't get used too much and we were heading straight for the bottom of the Flatiron. We then worked our way back over to the normal route.

After that point I never seemed to be able to keep up. I actually decided it was probably better to go my own pace anyway as to not wear myself out. I also wanted to take some pictures and check out the rest of the Supes from above. It was awesome to see Black Mesa, Black Top Mesa, Bluff Spring Mountain, and Boulder Canyon as they were part of several backpack trips we took into the Supes last winter. Many good memories!

I would call this a choose your own adventure hike as there are many times where routes split and come back together further down the line. It is also a full body hike as several times when you are scrambling you need to use your hands.

In one of the scrambling areas we met two guys coming the opposite way. They did a down climb in which they ended up jumping down the last few feet. In talking to them we discovered the one guy was blind. That definitely made me perk up - what an inspiration!

We took a few snack breaks while we waited on our "fast" crew who went out to the end of the Flatiron and out to the end of the Flatiron. I didn't do any extra peaks as I wanted to make sure I made it out by the time the car shuttle arrived.

The car shuttle took a while, so I had no worries in making it out. The traffic was bad due to the Renaissance Festival and other things going on in the area.

I was a bit sore this morning, but not sore enough to not go caving!
