This whole area to me looks like the backdrop of an old western movie and I just love it! Hiked the loop clockwise and was treated to great sloping desert views with a butte/pinnacle around every bend. Along the way were many stock tanks, cattle, corrals and even the remains of an old Ford model T (I think) beside the old Hwy 70 road. The only thing missing on this trip were the rattlesnakes, gila monsters & tarantulas which I'm sure will be out soon. There were also many nice patches of poppies throughout to keep my camera finger busy! A huge trophy white-tail buck was the big wildlife sighting of the day right at the end of the hike as the sun was setting. |
