Birding trip out to the park to try and get some pics of the baby great horned owls before they start flying. Entered through the north gate and walked down to the pond were I quickly found the 2 little owls perched right next to each other in the cottonwood trees. First time I've seen them together like this since leaving their nest and it was like they knew I was coming to get pics! Snapped a few good ones and then happily continued around the pond where I also saw many blackbirds and a couple of hawks flying over the marshes to the east. Spotted a young gopher snake on the service road just before leaving the park, took a few pics of him and then jumped onto the Gila Valley Trail System for a walk along the "cemetery loop" section. No birds on this loop, just headstones & many local residents out enjoying the trail. Returned back to my truck at sunset ending another very nice Gila valley evening!

	This wash is whats fills the wetlands of the park and has been dry now for the last 2 years due to below average mountain water runoff. The parks small pond is at 75-100% and still brings in a surprising amount of wildlife.
