| partners | | Mine & Pam's second round of hikes on top of Graham. Pam wanted to see Riggs Lake so we first drove to the end (well, almost) of the Swift Trail and down to the lake. Had a brief conversation with my friend Karl, the very unique campground host, before deciding on a loop hike around the lake. The Riggs Lake area is by far my favorite place on the entire mountain and it was very good to spend a little time walking around it. Next up was a drive back down to Columbine and a hike down along the Ash Creek trail to the falls overlook. Standard route down with many photo stops along the creek, the lumber mill ruins, slick rock area & down to the falls overlook. The flora is not really popping just yet, but many sections along the creek have already started to green up nicely. This was only my 2nd trip up this year in the high Pinaleno air and I was really sucking wind climbing back up on this one. We then drove back down the mountain looking for a sunset spot making it down to the "arrow tree" overlook just a minute after the sun dropped and ending another nice day of hiking on ol" Graham! |
