The trail is is decent shape the first 1/4 mile in up to the climbing wall, but then quickly becomes a slow going thick forest jungle bushwack/log hopping adventure up to the old wagon road exit to Arcadia. It took me a couple of hours to get up through it in this June heat with many rest/photography stops along the creek before reaching the wagon road spur. The canyon looked awesome! Creek was flowing about average down the very lush & green canyon and was full of butterflies, frogs, fungus beetles, lizards, chest high ferns, forest ivy, yellow columbines & small waterfalls! Exited the canyon up to Arcadia and then took the Swift Trail back down to complete the loop. Ended the day by driving down to the Road to Nowhere and hiking up to the Jacobson overlook for the sunset. |
