First time I've ever been to Piestewa...Being a native, it seems a little ridiculous, but have remedied that embarrasment now.... ;)

Passed a hundred people walking down Invergordon and was glad I didn't try to do Camelback today. I actually wanted to get to the Park before lunch hour started, but of course, got a late start. Was hoping that maybe doing the Peak during the heat of the day might scare a few folks away. Not sure if that was the case, but it wasn't that busy at Piestewa, which was nice.

I ended up parking at the very end of the drive in the Cul De Sac, so took the Circumference Trail #302 for about 100 feet and then a Trail veered off of it and went a little further of the slope. I opted for that unmarked Trail. WTH. Up and down a couple of ravines and after just shy of a half mile, came to the real #300 TH.

Started the ascent. I knew I was not going to be speedy today, it was warm and being this is my first Trip here, had the Camera armed and ready. The Trail is actually fairly nice, some of the steps were a little big, but the "Curb" that is in on part of the Trail makes for a nice bypass on some of the rockier stuff. Used the Curb as much as possible, up and down, figured I may as well work on my Balance Beam skills too... :D Only fell off once and saved myself enough to not do a Face Plant!

Not alot of people. You could actually do a couple of switchbacks without passing or being passed by anyone. Met one gal, was her third time up and she had never reached the Summit, so she was trying again. I told her that the Reward would be worth all of the hard work, and wished her Good Luck...(She made it this time.) : app :

Made the top in 1 hour 15 minutes. Certainly no threat to some of you HAZers, but I'll take it! :y: Went to the "true" Summit, plunked my butt down next to the Benchmark and had an apple and enjoyed the 360 degree views. Even with the dirty air, it was still nice....

Took the obligatory pictures and after 30 minutes, headed back down. About 3/4 of the way down, I experienced another first. A Chuckwalla! First time I have ever seen one in the "Wild" and I had to Hike in Central Phoenix to see it!

He/She was very cooperative and threw a couple of different poses for me so I could get some pics...Finished heading down and hiked back to the car. From Peak to car, 50 minutes, with a Lizard Photoshoot thrown in....

Got home and had a BoSa Donut and a liter of Gatorade. Lunch of Champions!!!
