| no partners | | I knew this one was going to be a good climb but are you kidding me? It wasn't a thigh burn that necessitated more than my usual break time but more a lung-busting, heart-pounding climb the last two miles or so of this relentless road. I am amazed that vehicles traverse this road, especially a very steep section near the top. One false move and it would be a very long rollover down a very steep mountain. And I did see vehicles going up and down the road, when I summited there were a number of workers erecting a tower and as expected the top of the mountain was very small indeed. The views to the west were obscured by fencing and building materials of some sort. I paused at the summit for a few minutes, took in the views all around, waiting for someone wearing a hardhat to tell me to scram but it never happened. Now the return down the road was most welcome and just a matter of stopping my momentum. My hat's off to those who negotiate this one. |
