| no partners | | Holy cow. This was an incredibly diverse and difficult trail. The Canada del Oro is in my option the best trail in the Catalinas. You are constantly near water and get to experience different types of forests. It has recently been worked on and is in beautiful shape! There is NO easy way out of the canyon though. We opted for the short but STEEP route of Red Ridge. That was one of the hardest uphill slogs I've ever done. Its a special moment when you realize your last 3 miles also include a 3000ft elevation gain. It never seems that bad on the map We saw lots of wildlife including turkey, deer and one AZ black rattlesnake. I will definitely be feeling this one tomorrow morning. |
