Arrived at the Hubbard Hilton Knoll Lake at around 10 AM, it began raining at noon. It let up long enough for us to eat dinner, then rained all night. But no worries, the tent kept us dry and the rain was soothing and pleasant, not a gully-washer.
The next day we kayaked around the lake, didn't tip over and made it back safely - Not bad for our first try! Driving around the rim, we stopped for a few edge shots. I had just mentioned early how everyone was seeing a bunch of snakes except us, when Kat saw that I almost stepped right on a ~4 foot Arizona Black Rattler! I didn't know they were up on the top of the rim. And no, he didn't rattle. |
