| partners | | We actually wanted to go see the tunnel from FR 300, but without studying the hike description and with the sign for the spur trail missing, we missed the turn off and continued down the Cl. Devin Trail. It was beautiful going down, with 3 or 4 springs flowing out of the rocks and across the trail. We stopped short of the TH due to incoming weather, which we got caught up in.
Saw a little mouse that appeared to be struggling on the side of the trail, and on the return (less than 10 minutes later) poor little guy was dead... From the looks of it, we guessed he probably got bit by a snake and was going to be lunch in the very near future.
Pouring down rain and close lightning definitely causes you to scramble up the hill faster than normal! By the time we got back to FR300 we were soaked to the bone!
Next time we know better where to take the spur trail to see the tunnel. A good excuse to go back! |
