| partners | | Even though traveling for close to 10 hours from Mesa we couldn't wait to begin our drive up Last Dollar Road for our first hike in Colorado, Whipple Mountain.
Thankfully my neighbor had clued me in to this road which got me doing more research prior to our trip. When I mapped out the Last Dollar Road halfway across I noticed the trail to Whipple Mountain at the high point. Whipple Mountain hike looked just right for our first elevation acclimatization hike. After the hike we continued on to Ridgway, where we rented a cabin for the week.
Although we had been warned about storms moving through when we began the drive up Last Dollar Road, everything turned out fine with only a few deep puddles in the road. On this day even a car could have made it with a bit of care.
