Tracey had the day off but with much to catch up on we either needed to do a short hike and/or something close. Normally taking less than 2-1/2 hours and only a short drive to it, we figured we'd be done well before noon.

Only thing we didn't count on is that on this morning we were acting more like slugs than hikers, taking a full hour more than usual. But then Tracey had already been to the gym for an hour and I had neglected to eat much for breakfast. Thankfully there were just enough clouds to keep it from getting too warm. It was 86 degrees when we started and 98 when we finished. For me the temp wasn't that big a deal, for Tracey it was right at the boundary of not wanting to hike in it.

Just a few highlights for the day...
1. Tracey made sure I took a photo of the bright purple coyote scat... at least the first of three we saw.
2. Me and a black-necked garter snake locked eyes for just a moment... then the next as I'm trying get the camera turned on it's busy shooting away without so much as an adios. It would have been a great photo, being about 3' long with some very bright stripes near the head... it was a beauty!
3. The only other wildlife was the greater earless lizard that seemed to enjoy his picture being taken.

With the hike done before noon now I have the rest of the day to edit videos from the last week and get them posted. Whoopee! Somehow I'm not so sure about that.
