We had 3 other people in our group and two of which havent backpacked before. We made good time and got in about four miles and set up camp. Past the 3.5 mile mark there isnt much of a trail and our newbies were starting to whine so we back tracked a bit and setup camp. Great canyon with a nice mix of red rock and typical high desert views. Water was refreshing and cool. One person in our group pulled a nice rainbow trout out of the creek and several small largemouth bass. I missed the mountain lion that ran about 20 feet away threw our camp because I was still in my tent . The new thermarest was too comfy... All in all another great canyon hike. Shorter than I would have liked, but with guys that are new to it, and always pack too much I couldnt of asked for more. |
