| partners | | Egg sandwiches from Vantastic Donuts in hand, on the road by 5:15am. Bull Pen devoid of people upon arrival. Began hiking around 7:30. An apprehensive Lily learned to stream cross along the way. Misha as usual swam herself silly. About 4 miles in, I decided to turn back as we were above the creek, it was getting warm, and I didn't want a repeat of Misha's disaster last May. Headed back towards the creek, had some lunch, cast a dry fly into a pool just for fun, and made for the parking lot. About a half-mile from the car Misha completely gave out. After a rest in the water , and a second attempt, she refused to walk after another tenth of a mile, just laying down in the middle of the trail. Carried her on my back (with Kyle's assistance) the rest of the way to the lot.
When I dropped her on the ground next to the car, she sprung up and excitedly begged for food from some day hikers in the lot. I was infuriated. "that dog just got a free ride back to the car" - Tough_Boots |
