| no partners | | | My brother invited me to join him as he scouted the trail for swimming areas in advance of a group hike on Sat.It was a nice partly cloudy day as we left the TH about 11:45am. The trail started out in a wooded area then opened into a grassy area with occasional patches of late summer flowers. Checked out the old cabin just off the trail. Then the trail meanders by the creek in and out of shdy areas. Going up and down a little with some rocky areas and even right up against the red rocks of the canyon walls.We marked some side trails to check out on our way back. We navigated the first 2 crossings And I stopped to rest shortly before the 3rd crossing while my brother went on ahead a little to look for the next crossing and a good swimming area which he found.We then headed back under increasingly cloudy skies which made it very comfortable. We checked one of the side trails and found the water gauging station. We timed our return just right as we started to leave in the car it began to rain.It was abeautiful day, the recent rains had greened everything up nicely,there were flowers and some butterflies to add to the scenery.It's a great scenic hike which I highly recommend. |
