So I had a crazy idea come to me...
What if I told a few select people a time and date, and told them only to bring pajama pants, a sleeping bag, flashlight, backpack full of snacks and drinks, and board/card games of their choice and told them not to expect to be back until noon the next day keeping the destination a secret from all but a couple people. I selected 3 other drivers who had trucks and only told them to have their gas tank full just in case.

I billed the event as The Pajama Gam Scram (or The Private Plaid Pajama Puzzle Peregrination), basically a secret society of underground pajama pants gaming aficionados that goes out to unconventional locales around town and further to throw down cards and game pieces.

The on board trusting committers arrived at my house at 7:30 and once all were assembled we left heading North. 2hrs later we arrived in the dark to our destination and they followed me with their lights and gear around the glowing moonlit hill.

When we arrived, we laid a huge tarp down, opened up all the sleeping bags and extra blankets and made a large communal area. Lanterns were lit and then the games and drinks broke out and the people spread out and were quiet no more.

It was a crazy night. I figured everyone would wind down after playing for a couple hours but somehow the gaming lasted until 4:45 that morning. We played everything from Cranium, several card games, Telephone Pictionary, and a hyper loony ruled Catchphrase game. I awoke after only an hour of sleep later to find almost everyone already up discovering their surroundings with awe and anticipating the sunrise. It didn't disappoint either and after watching it to its full potential, Steve and I hiked back to the trucks to grab the last stowed away surprise: stoves, eggs, and bacon.

It couldn't have worked out better (except my sis and her husb had something come up last minute and missed it) and people are already asking if there are ideas for the next one. And of course, maybe I already have some, I'll just have to find a bigger space.

*I'm pretty sure the good people of Camp Verde Starbucks now think pajama-roll-ups are a new trend down in the valley.
