A more sillier trip had to be postponed because of a slew of things and Noel was coming off a 2 week sickness. I thought my heart was broken when the trip got scrapped, but when she found out, she looked like she had needed it even more than me so I quickly checked on an overnight stay in Jerome. I found a nice BnB for Sunday night and let her know (instead of the usual element of surprise) to peak her spirits. She liked and then asked if we could stay in the cave the night before since we'd be close by. How could I say no?

So we got up there and found some people trickling out and then had it to ourselves. I hiked in a bundle of firewood and some games for the evening. All went well.

About 2 or 3 in the morning, Noel nudged me in our zipped together NorthFaces and mumbled there was someone in the cave. I asked her to repeat since I thought she was sleep talking and she mumbled it again. I thought then that she must've heard an animal scrapping about and did a scan with my overbright Chinese special, "Oh pumpkin, I'm sorry," I said when my beam swath hit a guy sitting in the cave with a blanket draped over him. He said no problem and it was what it was so I lied and told Noel it was fine went back to sleep. Maybe 1-2hrs later our visitor tripped on a rock leaving (good, ghosts can't trip), and apologized and left the cave. He had no light and we never saw him hike away so there's that. He didn't even watch the sunrise (or hit a drum for 2hrs) so that was weird. We talked to some mountain bikers the next day who were camped on the road in. A vehicle never passed them but they thought they head footsteps in the middle of the night and they had chalked it up to possibly deer. I guess it's not as odd as the other stories from there, like drum guy, the give LSD to kids so they can see their shakras early and know the truth about Abraham Lincoln and Mary still being alive with the aliens-guy, or the secret gold tree.

Morning came and we practice the LNT rule of making the cave smell like maple bacon and then packed up. We picked a good time as we saw some people driving in to give the cave a lookie-loo. We hiked up the road a bit to see some mine remnants and then drove over to Jerome where we did a lot more hiking. Was a great weekend even though the intended shenanigans got held up.
