Then up US550 to San Ysidro, where I headed north on beautiful NM4 on my way to Jemez Springs. I have driven this highway many times on the way to Los Alamos and Bandelier. This entire area in the Santa Fe National Forest has some of the best scenery in New Mexico. Always a treat to be there! My plan this time was just to head into Jemez Springs to take a few pictures of the town (love that place), then backtrack a short distance and check out some new roads. Eventually I would end up in Cuba, then over to Abiquiu Reservoir, before ending the long day at my lodging for the night in Santa Fe (the pleasant Silver Saddle Motel). Day 3 rocked as expected! I knew from previous trips up here in early to mid October that the cottonwoods would be at their yellow best. |
