Last year I did the Ridgeline with a loop on Lost Goldmine Trail back to the Miner's Restaurant. Not a fan of that trail and Jacob's Crosscut. So I decided on out and back.
Up Flatiron down Carney back up Carney and down Flatiron.
Other than the 25 knot winds gusting to 40+ on the Ridgeline it was a nice day. It took some time to get my layers set up so I could access them w/out dropping the pack everytime which took a lot of time. It was particularly painful on the shady side in the snow on the Flatiron side, but Carney springs was nice with very little wind. The wind had gone down a little on the trip back. With the Short days I knew I would be doing Flatiron in the Dark and I wasn't disappointed.
Only people I saw the whole day I ran into on the way to Carney and on the way up Carney. Talked to them for a few minutes each time. They said that there are signs on the way in on Peralta Rd. that they are going to start charging for parking. They said there was someone in the parking lot that let them off this time, but said they are charging.
Found where I got off track last time leading to unneeded and painful bushwacking. All in all a good day with great scenery.
Think the AEG is closer to 9'000, but I couldn't find anything that jumped off the screen before running it. I'll look at it closer Manana and see if I have any sneaky elevation jumps hidden in the points. |
