| no partners | | Exploratory trip for Future attempt at the trail as a day hike as well as doing Pikes Peak as a dayhike from my house when it warms up a bit.
Up Mt. Esther to the trail and SE on the RTPT to Crowe Gulch picnic area and the Pikes Peak highway. Unable to find the connection on the other side to the trail. Ran into a class from one of the local colleges at the picnic area.
Backtracked past Mt. Esther following the Trail all the way to Crystal Creek Resevoir. Found a steep slick trail down to Green Mtn. Falls through the notch and ran into a couple GM Falls locals going up for an afternoon hike. They said they have had a big problem with Mt. lion attacks and sightings recently. I later saw the signs in town to prove it. Pointed out a place where the trail mtx. program is located as well as local trail maps. Followed the Ute Regional trail back to Chipita Park for a nice loop. The clouds came in during the hike the wind picked up and temps dropped. I was thankful for my primaloft jacket, hat, and gloves. Crazy dressed in layers for a hike at the end of April. Muesli is much happier with the temps for hiking and thoroughly enjoyed this hike. Nice to have work calm down a little and hoping to get out more. |
