Trail is in nice condition all the way to Mt. Esther. Met a neighbor named Bob who was coming back. He said it was too slick to summit Esther so he turned around short. He told me that the Ring the Peak Trail is mostly finished and that it if I so desired I could use it to do Pikes Peak without driving to the toll road or parking at the Barr trail. He also said I could use Crowe Gulch to loop Mt. Esther and come down in Green Mtn. Falls (the next town over)sounds good. The directions were to turn left on the Ring the Rim trail after coming down Mt. Esther and I would come across and old road. Follow it to the Reservoirs. Sounds easy enough. Only problem was I turned right on the road and he forgot to mention I needed to take a left. After topping Mt. Esther I followed his directions making one wrong fateful choice turning right. The road disappeared quickly and I saw no reservoir. I found a trail and thought well, maybe the reservoirs are farther than I anticipated. The trail became extremely steep and slick necessitating getting the poles out. (Thank goodness I brought them since I rarely use them.)The trail disappeared and I followed a ravine down with massive deadfall and stickery branches 
I could see the elementary school for a portion of this bushwack, but it did not seem to get closer. I came up to a national forest boundary marker and numerous trees with red dots which lead me to believe I was home free. Wrong I followed the red trees, but no trail between them. Muesli was covered in these branches with little stickers. We came out in a different area of Chipita Park and I walked through a different section of the neighborhood home. Fun adventure hope to continue to explore the area as my work schedule eases and we continue to get unpacked.
