| partners | | | Another perfect "winter" day to be around exploring the Supes. It was a cold start this morning but we quickly warmed up with the up climb starting at Boulder Canyon TH. It seemed we were flying for the first 2.5 miles of the journey. Once we got down to La Barge box the sun's lighting provided for some cool photograph opportunities. There was plenty of water flowing at the box, making it interesting as we worked our way into the canyon but nothing we couldnt handle. As we continued we decided to add a couple more trails to our original plan and ended up doing a very respectable 19.5 miles for the day. We hardly ran into any people the first half of the trip but as we got on the Dutchman trail the foot traffic increased. As we passed the turn off to Battleship mountain we kept our eyes open just in case we managed to see the big horn sheep that likes to call the area home but we only saw two people making their way down the mountain. In all it was another successful and fun hike in the Superstitions, aside from some minor battle wounds; But this is what hiking is all about! |
