| no partners | | | Made my first attempt at Governor's Peak today with my hiking buddy Larry. Found the trail head parking, no problem. Wandered our way across Castle Creek and found the trail head sign in sheet. Trail from here is well worn and marked. Easily missed the right at the Y and went a 1/4 mile before I figured it out and turned back. No problems following the trail until it crosses 4 Tanks Wash where it completely disappears. We hacked our way up to the saddle about 3/10 of a mile from the peak. Our late start and slow going climbing rock and dodging cactus ended today's trek short from our goal. I'll be heading back with my buddy Larry, better prepared, with an earlier start, and free of prior obligations. We both really enjoyed the hike and look forward to our return to finish it off. |
