| no partners | | After yesterday's snow, I just had to go check out the Catalinas. I decided to see if there was any snow at Hutch's Pool. I took the tram up to have more time to play in the Sabino Basin and the ride was gorgeous- white all the way down to the creekbed.
There was wet, heavy snow frosting everything. It was sunny out and snowmelt dripped from every tree. As I got closer to Hutch's Pool, there were several stretches of fresh snowy trail. It was such a treat to be able to enjoy the snow, I grew up in Chicago hating it. I reached Hutch's Pool and the beach was covered in snow right up to the water! I took a million pictures and then got a little sad because there was no one to throw snowballs at.
I explored up the streambed a bit and then made my way back to the AZT. A lot of the low snow had melted, but white-fringed Cathedral Rock was finally revealed when the clouds lifted. I wasn't ready to go back so I went up the East Fork a little ways and found myself a nice spot to take a break before hiking back to the tram road. Such a great day. |
