We started in Friday and camped just over the peak at the first site we saw (so our boys wouldn't have to carry their heavy packs up the long hill). There was snow scattered throughout in the shady spots. The wind made for a cold evening outside the tent. A police or rescue helicopter flew by with a spotlight while we were around our fire. Saturday morning we hiked to the falls and had them all to ourselves. The boys enjoyed the scramble up all the rocks to the falls. On our way up the hill we ran into 6 hikers heading down. Gathered our gear at the top and headed back to the truck. All the boys (2 age 10 and one age eight) did great. My 8 year old was determined to beat everyone back to the truck as he was the last one up the big hill and he was the first back with me by about 10 minutes. Great trip, beautiful weather for hiking, falls weren't as big as my previous trips, but still running and always spectacular. All the photos were taken by Matt. |
